Frequently Asked Questions

How does Apothecare help consumers?

Apothecare provides easy to understand, reliable cannabis and wellness information that is sourced from trusted research. We also connect you to pharmacists that can offer personalized cannabis consultations and medication reviews.

How does Apothecare help healthcare providers?

We’ve developed a comprehensive education program that gives healthcare providers the resources to confidently integrate cannabis and pharmacogenetic testing into their practice. The Cannabis Care Program is continuously updated with the latest published literature. It also offers a community to connect you with other healthcare professionals for academic discussions and support.

How do I know what cannabis product is best for me?

A discussion with a knowledgeable healthcare provider and a cannabis retail educator can give you insights on what cannabis options may work for you. However, everyone is different and you may need to trial and error products until you find one that is optimal for you. For a more personalized approach to your health, our partners at Inagene Diagnostics can analyze your genes to see how they affect cannabis metabolism along with any other medications. Inquire about pharmacogenetic testing from a Whole Health Pharmacist today.

I don’t know any healthcare providers (pharmacists, doctors etc.) who can provide cannabis consultations? What can I do?

Apothecare is  continuously training pharmacists and other healthcare providers so that they are confident in providing evidenced-based cannabis consultations. See our Apothecare cannabis certified pharmacy network to find your closest location for a consultation.

The pharmacies listed in your cannabis certified pharmacy network aren’t close to me in proximity. Will more pharmacies be added?

Yes! We are continuously training new pharmacists and adding locations to our network. Subscribe to our Apothecare Community for updates on new and upcoming locations.

Is Cannabis good for you?

Cannabis has therapeutic benefits that may be beneficial for you. More research is coming out supporting its use to treat conditions such as depression, anxiety, pain, migraines etc. However, in some people cannabis may have negative effects, it's important to talk to a knowledgeable healthcare professional to see if cannabis is right for you!

Will I get high if I use cannabis?

It depends on what cannabis product and how much you use. Cannabis products typically contain two main cannabinoids THC and CBD. The THC can cause intoxication at higher doses. Everyone has a different tolerance to THC but as long as you don’t take too much THC based of your own tolerance, then you won’t experience the “high”.

There are plenty of strategies to reduce the risk of intoxication. You can use a product that doesn’t have THC or very low amounts of THC. Talk to an Insalata Cannabis Educator for your cannabis needs.

I don’t want to smoke cannabis, are there other options for me?

Yes! There are plenty of cannabis products that don’t require you to smoke them. There are capsules, gummies, chocolates, teas, and oils that all can be ingested orally. Or you can apply cannabis creams on the skin. You do not need to smoke cannabis to experience its benefits. Speak to an Insalata Cannabis Educator today about your cannabis needs!

Can I do a phone consultation with one of the Apothecare pharmacy network locations?

Unfortunately over the phone consultations are not available, however you can call to schedule an appointment if needed. It’s important to go in person to the pharmacy to ensure the pharmacist can designate the appropriate time for the consultation and they can adequately review your medication history. You may wish to bring a list of your current medications so the pharmacist can assess for any significant interactions.
